Gravity explanation

Kia Ora!

Today my class had to write explanations about gravity.

It was hard to have ideas about gravity since I don’t know much.

It was very fun to write paragraphs of how gravity makes a huge impact on our life’s.

Here is my explanation I hope you learn something!

Do you wonder if there is gravity anywhere in space?

What is gravity?

I will tell you what gravity is, who discovered gravity and what gravity does for us. Gravity is something that draws all objects, creatures and everything to earth including us. It’s something in the earth that sticks us to the ground. Some scientists think that the black hole in the centre of the Milky way is the cause of gravity.

Who discovered gravity?

There is a person who discovered gravity 300 years ago, his name was Isaac Newton. He was just sitting under an apple tree, when an apple fell on him. He thought of why things fall down and never stay up? He researched until he found out that everything that goes up will always go down because we have gravity.

What does gravity do for us?

Gravity makes us stay on the ground. The gravity on earth pulls us towards the centre. There is no gravity in space, that is why no one can survive in space without special suits. That is the reason why we walk with our feet on the ground and the reason we carry our weight, however if earth didn’t have gravity all objects would be up in space orbiting forever. I wonder if there is gravity anywhere in space? If there was no gravity nothing would be on the ground.

Conclusion

I learnt that nothing that goes in the sky stays there because of gravity. I find it cool how gravity pulls us to the center of the earth. I think that gravity is really important because everything would be floating, including us.

The Milky Way

Milky way

Hola friends!

Today we made individual slideshows answering questions about the milky way.

Here is my slideshow, it was really hard to find the 2 main parts of the milky way and understand what they are. The milky way is the galaxy we live in. Our earth is 26,670 light years away from the centre of the milky way.

The fun part was learning about the galaxies near the milky way, the answer is in the slideshow below!

Bye everyone! Enjoy the slideshow. Hopefully you’ll learn something new!

See you later bloggers and viewers..

Smart Images

Kia Ora! today room eight and room nine had Cybersmart together. We looked at what is copyright and not. We learned that copyright items are not to be used without permission.

We learned what consumed images are, what are our images, and copyright images.

I found it hard to find the exact picture that i wanted because the non copyright images are limited. My most favourite part was creating my own image by drawing a picture.

Tip –

The google images on the drive are the non-copyright pictures that you can use.

What is copyright?

Copyright is basically taking credits or claiming something like a photo, a book or other things you didn’t get permission for. This happens a lot on google because lots of people take screenshots.

My highlight making this slideshow was when I drew a photo that is mine. The video that is in the slide explains what copyright is.

Bye bloggers and viewers.

By the way, whats your favourite picture I made?

letter to Mom (Manukau symphony orchestra)

Letter about orchestra

Kia Ora! Today we wrote an imaginary letter to someone. We had to think about the key parts of a letter like the salutation, who it is to and from, sign out and more. Our letter was about our Manukau symphony orchestra yesterday, I enjoyed writing my name at the end because I wanted to put it in a nice font.

The hard part about writing this letter was covering all of the parts of the event. The orchestra was held at the due drop events center.

To : mom

Dear mom,

Yesterday everyone except the year ones and twos.

went to the Manukau symphony orchestra. We went on the bus and had a 15-20 minute drive and we were there. They had lots of different instruments such as the cello, drums, harps, violins and more. There was also a conductor, the person that kept all the music and tune at the same pace and tune. We saw woodwind instruments and string instruments the most.

They played all different songs while a lady sat on a sofa telling us stories. I loved the story “the Emperor and the nightingale” because the lady that played the flute was very talented when she played the nightingale in one breath.

My most favourite one was “the swan.” They told us to imagine a swan gliding through a pond. That was very calming and they only used the cello and harp. The last performance was a Star Wars song. That explained why there was a disco ball at the top, because the lights were flashing like a disco while the Star Wars song played. The orchestra was really unique because all these instruments were playing the same tune. My favourite instrument was the cello because it

was very graceful while being used. My highlight was being able to hear and see how all the instruments were being used, especially the violin. I noticed that they have to have very good hand movement and placement. Then we had to start moving back to school around 2:00pm.

Sincerely,

Zaynab

Bye every one come back for more blog posts!

The Mystery Map

Today I finished writing creative writing, I had to think of the characters names, characteristics and personalities. It was fun making all the twists and turns.

I had just moved into my new house. They say that a millionaire once lived here. I didn’t think much of it until I saw a huge bump near the withered oak tree, I got my garden shovel and started digging.

My shovel finally stopped and I pulled out a small box with a satchel inside. Inside the satchel there was a map. I was curious and it took me a few days to finally follow it. I took a look at the map and it went through the ocean, so I reached out to my friend and they gave me a boat. I started packing some resources, a life jacket for safety and started sailing. I should’ve sailed smoothly until a huge dark cloud was coming my way. I was scared and started to feel unsettled. I couldn’t do anything except wait.

Soon after I woke up, I didn’t know I had been sleeping this whole time! The sky rumbled as the sea waved and crashed hard on the boat. I was swallowing lots of sea water and then I fainted. I finally woke up after days, my boat was at the edge of an island. I was starving and weak. I looked through the boat and there were cans of water and nutrients bars. Later I noticed my map was gone, I freaked out.

I stepped out of the boat and collected lots of resources. There was fresh water deep in the forest. I drank and drank until I could burst. I went to my boat and got all the cans to start filling them with water. I thought I could stay on the island until I thought of the life I had back home, everything was going so well. I was determined to start again. I sailed until nothing could stop me. I ate fish, raw fish.

It has been a month already. I was sick and tired of eating fish. I didn’t know what to do anymore. I was sure I had been reported missing, but no one ever came. I was floating on a boat in the middle of the ocean. I was weak when my boat was on an island. The sun shone into my eyes as I crawled onto the sand weakly. A few hours later some people found me laying on the sand. I sat down thinking what could’ve been the treasure.

Te Māra Hūpara traditional Māori playground

Te Māra Hūpara

Kia Ora everybody! 2 weeks ago the whole of Hay Park School went on a trip to a traditional Māori playground called Te Māra Hūpara. We had lots of fun, however lots of people got injured that day on the spiky branches or slippery tree trunks and logs.

We had our play and we explored and played with friends, until we had to go back to school.

I enjoyed =
  • Climbing trees and logs with my friends
  • Playing tag
  • Looking at insects
I found it hard to =
  • Not slip
  • Get my clothes dirty
  • playing on the slippery logs

Bye everyone see you next time!

Orewa Beach Trip

Kia Ora!

On Wednesday 27th March the Hay Park senior school went to Orewa beach for a fun day including surf lessons. First we packed our bags with snacks, rain jackets and towels. Then Webber class got split and boarded other buses at 8:50. When we took our first look at the bus, we were amazed because It was a fancy VIP bus. Our bus had an AC, seat belts and a toilet!

When we got there we had to take a seat on the grass so that the Instructors could tell us the rules and what we should and shouldn’t do. They also told us to be careful of strong currents and rocks. A few minutes later some of us got changed then went down to the beach to play games with Mrs Patel. We played capture the flag, it was very fun and challenging. Lots of people were very fast I made it a bit far, then I lost, but its okay because we got to play in the hot soft sand. I hated the sun that time because it was burning so we were allowed to go in the water with a supervisor.

Finally it was time for the main activity, surfing. We put on our wet suits and wet shirts then the Instructors taught us how to use our boards and hop on it. We learned the parts of the board like the fins, the leash, the body and head. Then we went into the water and started trying to surf. I didn’t stand on the board, but it was fun when the instructors and parent helpers pushed us on them.

Our last thing to do was change and go to the playground. We changed back into our clothes and played. My friends and I went on the pole and played tag. There were these interesting gym workout activities so we gave them a go. I had fun trying them out because there were lots. Finally it was time to go back to school and 1:50 so we all packed our bags, boarded the bus and went back to school.

I enjoyed writing about the parts of the board!

Bye everyone come back for more posts!
