Orewa Beach Trip

Kia Ora!

On Wednesday 27th March the Hay Park senior school went to Orewa beach for a fun day including surf lessons. First we packed our bags with snacks, rain jackets and towels. Then Webber class got split and boarded other buses at 8:50. When we took our first look at the bus, we were amazed because It was a fancy VIP bus. Our bus had an AC, seat belts and a toilet!

When we got there we had to take a seat on the grass so that the Instructors could tell us the rules and what we should and shouldn’t do. They also told us to be careful of strong currents and rocks. A few minutes later some of us got changed then went down to the beach to play games with Mrs Patel. We played capture the flag, it was very fun and challenging. Lots of people were very fast I made it a bit far, then I lost, but its okay because we got to play in the hot soft sand. I hated the sun that time because it was burning so we were allowed to go in the water with a supervisor.

Finally it was time for the main activity, surfing. We put on our wet suits and wet shirts then the Instructors taught us how to use our boards and hop on it. We learned the parts of the board like the fins, the leash, the body and head. Then we went into the water and started trying to surf. I didn’t stand on the board, but it was fun when the instructors and parent helpers pushed us on them.

Our last thing to do was change and go to the playground. We changed back into our clothes and played. My friends and I went on the pole and played tag. There were these interesting gym workout activities so we gave them a go. I had fun trying them out because there were lots. Finally it was time to go back to school and 1:50 so we all packed our bags, boarded the bus and went back to school.

I enjoyed writing about the parts of the board!

Bye everyone come back for more posts!

Te Māra Hūpara Trip!!

On the 15th march me and my class went to a Māori playground.

It was so cool.

The scary part was going on the big log.

Have you gone to this playground before?

Te Māra Hūpara

On Wednesday the 15th my school and I went to a Māori playground. First we went to the bus, I sat near my friends and the bus started moving. We were all so excited then we got to the playground. When we got to the special playground we put on our hats and the teacher let us explore the playground. First I went to a big tree log and started climbing it. It was really fun and easy! After I did that I went to jump on the logs. They were kind of slippery since they were covered in moss but I managed to get to the end. Soon later I was hungry so I got some food from our shared bag and ate it for morning tea. I  finished my snack and I thought  it was time to go on the big high log, Although I was too scared to stand up because it was high so I sat down and passed the log. It was very cool and scary. After that I had to go to the bathroom but we had to walk in groups since it was a 5-10 minute walk so we walked to the bathroom and it was my turn. Someone was going number 2 and that made us have to wait. Mr Albert said we could play in the playground and I saw an epic flying fox. It was so cool and high!  So why not, I gave it a go. I was zooming and having fun until we had to go. But that’s okay. When we got back my friend’s mum brought her 1 year old baby  and let him out of the pram so I could play with him. He was very cute but then  we had to go because we only had three hours at the park and those three hours were up.
